Question How many books can I have at any one time?
Answer Provided your account is in credit for the appropriate
amount there is no limit, within reason, on the number of
books you can have out at any one time.
Question Will a box of tapes go through my letterbox?
Answer Yes, they are designed to go through a letterbox.
We have two sizes of box, one to take up to 6 tapes, the other
to take 7 or 8 tapes.
Question What happens if a book is more than 8 tapes long?
Answer All books over 8 tapes are divided into volumes. You
can choose to have all volumes together, only 2 volumes together
or all volumes individually.
Question Why do I have to choose 20/30 tiles for my selection
list?
Answer Only to make life easier for you and us! As we are
a library, not all books are in at any one time, so by selecting
a long list of titles you are saving yourself time by doing
the job less frequently and you are making it easier for us
to find a book that is in. It doesn’t mean that you have to
have all 20 titles at one time!
Question Do I have to go to a Post Office to post the book
back?
Answer No, post the book in any post-box you like. The book
comes with a reply paid label inside which you stick over
the label addressed to you. If the box looks as though it
got damaged on the way to you, we suggest you put a rubber
band round it to help secure it. Please do not use sticky
tape.
Question A basic hire of 1 week seems rather a short time.
Answer It is about 1 to 1 ½ hours listening time a day. Most
people have that amount of dead time a day driving a car or
lorry, doing the ironing, cooking or gardening, let alone
if you have an occupation like sewing or picture restoration
which takes you all day!

Can I phone you anytime if I need a book urgently or wish
to discuss my requirements.
Answer Yes, of course. We like to speak to our members and
get to know them. If you don’t want to speak to us, you can
always leave a message on the answerphone in the evening or
early morning!
Question How often do you increase the size of the library?
Answer
We add 200/300 books every year to the library. However, due
to space and cost factors, we do not put the books into stock
until there is sufficient demand for a book. So it may take
several months before a new title is available.
